2023 Summer Camps

Lake Superior Zoo summer day camps provide a fun and safe setting where youth can make both human and animal friends!

Each camp features animal encounters, hands-on activities, crafts, and games that focus on inspiring children to care about wildlife, conservation, and the natural world. From Cub Club to Zoo Troop to Eco-Explorers, each level of camp exposes children to different opportunities as their learning levels progress. When they reach their teen years, youth can participate in Zoo Crew to gain a real-world understanding of what it’s like to work with animals and visitors at a zoo.

Cub Club
ages 4-5

Cub Club is a 2-hour camp designed for preschool-age children who are able to be successful in group programs without parent involvement. Children will participate in games, interactive activities, role play, and crafts. We’ll explore the zoo, read stories and meet many animal friends!

Zoo Troop
ages 6-8

Whether you embark on “Animal Adventures” or become a “Zookeeper for a Week,” all of these 4-day camps include exciting games and activities, art projects, and close-up animal encounters.

Zookeeper Camp for youth with autism
ages 8-12

Learn what it’s like to be a zookeeper by preparing animal meals, making enrichments, cleaning exhibits, observing animal training, and more! This camp will be co-taught by zoo educators and Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) Education Specialists.

Eco-Explorers
ages 9-12

Explore careers working with animals, practice your zoology skills and more by choosing from these exciting 4-day camps focused on wildlife and conservation.

Zoo Crew
ages 13-17

Zoo Crew provides teens with hands-on experience with animal care, conservation, education, and zoo operations. Participants learn how to handle and care for animals, work alongside zookeepers, and teach zoo visitors about wildlife and conservation issues.
