Animal Programs

Length: 30-45 minutes
Cost: $50 per group of up to 30 people, plus admission
Maximum: 30 students per program
Minnesota & Wisconsin State Science Standards

Animal programs are engaging, hands-on presentations that feature three live ambassador animals. Choose one of the topics below that best fits your learning.

  • Animal Adaptations – From deserts to rainforests, students will discover what adaptations animals have that help them survive in some incredible habitats.
  • Animal Heroes – Animals need our help! Do you have what it takes to be an animal hero? Students will learn about the impact people have on the survival of animal species and how they can help.
  • Animal Life Cycles – Who hatches from an egg? Who sheds their skin? Students will explore the stages animals go through after birth and how they develop skills and behaviors to survive.
  • Animals of Minnesota & Wisconsin – Connect with local wildlife and their cousins while learning how they adapt to our changing seasons.
  • Creature Categories – Furry or scaly, feathered or slimy—we can see and feel many similarities and differences between animals. Discover how scientists sort animals into groups based on how they look and behave.

Guided Zoo Tour

Length: 90 minutes
Cost: $65 plus admission
Maximum: 30 people per day (students will be divided into two groups)

Embark on a tour of the zoo with an experienced guide and learn the unique stories of our animals. Tour does not include African lions, bald eagles or Australia Building.

Behind-the-Scenes Program

Length: 90 minutes
Cost: $80 plus admission
Maximum: 30 people per day (students will be divided into two groups)

Animal Care – Students will learn how zookeepers care for the animals and what it takes to keep them healthy. Activities include peeking behind the scenes, preparing diets and meeting animals up close!
