Thanks to the generous support of the Charles and Carolyn Russell Family Foundation, the Lake Superior Zoo presents Conservation Quest!
Participate in this exciting program and learn about the wonders of our natural world, while discovering how you can contribute to wildlife conservation! Join us throughout the year for activities that explore the lives of many incredible animals and the vital role you play in protecting local ecosystems and wildlife around the world.
After completing each Conservation Quest challenge, swing by our gift shop to claim your exclusive trading card! With a new card available each time you finish a new challenge, see if you can collect them all.

Our 2025-2026 Empathy trading cards highlight some of the incredible species that call the Lake Superior Zoo their home.
By participating in Conservation Quest activities, you can earn a trading card to take home! This year’s collection features 15 unique animals and provides insights into their personalities, the specialized care they receive at the zoo, their adaptations and distinctive traits, as well as ways we can support their populations.

Conservation Quest FAQs
What is Conservation Quest?
Conservation Quest is a free series of activities; from scavenger hunts at the zoo, to art projects and service challenges at home, that will task visitors to learn more about the wonders of our natural world, while discovering how you can contribute to wildlife conservation!
Upon completion of each Conservation Quest activity, you will receive a limited edition animal trading card, featuring some of the incredible animals at the Lake Superior Zoo!
New challenges will be shared every couple of weeks- check back on this page or join our mailing list to be notified of the most recent challenge!
When can I do Conservation Quest activities?
Conservation Quest activities will take place throughout the year! Find them by interacting with Lake Superior Zoo staff and volunteers, completing challenges at the zoo and at home, coming to special events, and more! The cards will keep rotating, so check here for updates on challenges and card availability. Be sure to come back and visit often so you can get them all!
Who are Conservation Quest activities for?
Conservation Quest challenges are for everyone! We hope that all people, young and old, will participate in these challenges! Whether you’re a local, a regular visitor to the zoo, or someone participating from afar*, you’re welcome to join these activities. Some can be enjoyed from home, while others happen at the zoo. We’re looking forward to your participation!
* Some activities will be accessible from home, but other activities will take place at the zoo.
How can I get my Trading Card? Can they be purchased?
Complete Conservation Quest challenges to earn trading cards! Trading Cards are not available for purchase. Trading Cards are only available while supplies last!
Stay updated by checking our website, following us on social media, or subscribing to email alerts to hear about the latest challenges. Once you have completed the challenge, please complete this form. Don’t miss the opportunity to collect them all!
How many Trading Cards are there?
The 2025-2026 Collection contains 15 different trading cards, including: Alaskan brown bear, axolotl, bald eagle, Burmese python, capybara, caribou, Chilean rose-haired tarantula, coyote, North American river otter, pygmy slow loris, red-footed tortoise, red panda, ring-tailed lemur, sand cat, and three-banded armadillo.
